The Rhodes brand name is the product of one of the most famous piano teachers in the United States. Harold Rhodes was born in 1910 and became one of the best teachers in the music industry. During WWII, he teamed up with the army to create a piano that soldiers could use as part of music therapy. The "Make and Play" program was one of the most successful music programs in the US. After the war, Rhodes teamed up with Fender, and later with CBS, to start producing and manufacturing musical instruments. Then, in 1965 Rhodes introduced the first Fender Rhodes electric piano, the Suitcase 73. This instrument really changed the music scene. No longer did pianists have to sit back while the louder instruments took over.
Today the company continues to introduce new and innovative technologies every year. This is evident by their great lineup of synthesizers and keyboards. Be sure to check out the S, A and AM series to find the perfect synth for your playing abilities.
