Oberheim was founded in 1969 as a musical instrument company that focused primarily on building top-quality synthesizers. In the early days the company introduced some really ground-breaking technologies with instruments like the DS-2 which was the first digital music sequencer. They also produced the advanced Synthesizer Expansion Module (SEM). One of the very first commercially available polyphonic synthesizers was the Two-voice TVS-1 which was built off of the technology of the SEM.

While the company closed its doors in 1986, it was soon bought by the music giant Gibson. Today you can still find some really great Oberheim synthesizers and keyboards that are lightweight, compact but incredibly popular. You will also be able to find a great range of vintage and retro synthesizers that are still in demand today for their nostalgic look and sound.
